Clemson scientist working on weapons-busting chip

In the basement of Clemson University’s Sirrine Hall, a Ukrainian professor and a Russian graduate student are working side by side on a project that could save the world from chemical warfare.

Igor Luzinov, a materials science and engineering professor, is leading Clemson’s research on the smart film that can detect banned chemicals. Collaborators from MIT, the University of Central Florida and Physical Sciences Inc. are developing electronic devices that will read the data the chip collects.
